Eric and I took a 10-day trip to Seattle and Portland for our 1-yr wedding anniversary. Here’s a little travelog of our adventure.
Oct. 4
Highlight of our five-hour flight from ATL to SEA was passing Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens. Absolutely amazing. Checked into Hotel Max. Look how cute the rooms were:

Took a cab ride out to University Village to the Apple store so we could replace Eric’s fried laptop cable.
We grabbed a bite to eat at a brewery nearby. As we dined, I witnessed something truly typical of Seattle (according to our server). I noticed at one point, it was pouring rain outside the front of the restaurant…. but, only 20 feet away, outside the window next to our table, not a drop fell from the sky. Probably one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever witnessed. I imagined a cartoon character walking around out in front of the tavern, a lone rain cloud following him around the parking lot.

Rented a car and drove to Portland, Oregon. Our cute condo by the river:

Walked across the pedestrian bridge in search of dinner. Found Old Town Pizza. Really good. Proof:

Eric was excited about the pizza, too.

Later that evening, the nice condo owners stopped by to wish us a “happy anniversary” and delivered a yummy piece of chocolate cake they picked up for us at Papa Haydn.
Oct. 6
We walked around the waterfront and the Pearl District most of the day, took lots of photos, and eventually ate an early dinner at Henry’s 12th Street Tavern.

Oct. 7
Met up with Ward, Andrea, Ava & Ezra in the Alberta area for lunch at Cup & Saucer Cafe. Good food and great company.
That evening, we went for a walk around downtown. It poured rain all afternoon, and we got soaked and cold walking around for several hours… but it was nice to be out walking around a new city, so we didn’t mind too much.

Oct. 8
Columbia River Scenic Highway. Multnomah Falls. Mt. Hood and Timberline Lodge. Goverment Camp. Crab cakes for dinner at Jake’s Famous Crawfish in Portland.

Oct. 9
French toast at Fuller’s Coffee Shop. Hot Lips Pizza in the Pearl District for dinner.
Oct. 10
Headed back to Seattle. Had the rental car until 6pm. Got into the city around 2pm, so we headed over to Lake Washington Blvd to check out Kurt Cobain’s old place. Ended up on the wrong end of Lake Washington and witnessed a random cyclist wipe out on a curve not 20 feet in front of our parked car. Got out to assist him… he left a large chunk of his upper thigh on the highway. Bad abrasions. Poor dude.
Finally made it over to Kurt’s house and took some pics of the signed bench in the park next door.

Oct. 11
Pike Place market. Space Needle. Donuts. And something resembling Mexican food?

Oct. 12
Took a bus to funky Fremont to search for a troll under a bridge. Got really lost in the process. And a little scared. Rode back to our hotel and walked to a pizza place not worth mentioning located near Seattle Center. In case you didn’t notice, we consume a lot of pizza.
